Google announces nine Chrome OS supporting partners

News by Brian James Kirk on Thursday July 09, 2009.

After announcing its Google Chrome operating system yesterday, supporting partners have already been unveiled by Google. The search giant says that Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments and Toshiba are all working to support the lightweight new operating system.

Google also says that its operating system will be completely free to manufacturers, as Chrome is an open source project. The company says that netbook computers running the software should be available to consumers by the second half of 2010.
