Nokia brings Ovi Maps 3.0 out of beta with official release
News by Brian James Kirk on Thursday July 02, 2009.
Nokia has released Ovi Maps 3.0, officially bringing the mapping system out of beta. Ovi Maps lets users do a multitude of location-based activities. They can find their current position, do local searches, and get access to turn-by-turn, voice-guided navigation. They can read travel guides and easily find pedestrian directions. Users can also plan trips on a PC or a mobile phone and sync the plans between devices.
Earlier this month Ovi Maps was updated with more map data from Navteq, weather forecast information and performance and bug fixes.
We first reported Nokia's plan to launch the desktop and mobile maps syncing solution in May. You will need Windows on your computer to run the software, but Macintosh support is coming soon. The release supports devices powered by S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 and 2 and S60 5th edition. Users interested in downloading the full release should browse here. [via AllAboutSymbian]
