Analyst: Palm has sold 300,000 Pre smartphones

News by Brian James Kirk on Wednesday July 01, 2009.

Analyst Edward Snyder from Research firm Charter Equity Research said in a report Monday that he believes Palm has sold 300,000 Palm Pre smartphones, based on conversations with sources in the handset manufacturing industry. He predicts that Palm is producing 15,000 Pres per day and that it will ship one million devices in the first quarter of production. He also expects Palm to begin expanding webOS to other devices.

While other industry analysts have pegged the number of sold Pre handsets at about 150,000, Snyder has doubled that figure. The New York Times Bits blog says Snyder's estimate is of note because he is typically an industry pessimist. [via mocoNews]
