For those of you that have been holding your breath ever since its launch at the 2009 Mobile World Congress event, your wait for Samsung's i8910 OmniaHD is almost over. The 8GB storage version of the device has started shipping on the UK's Orange network, where it is being called the i8910HD. Samsung recently appears to have dropped the Omnia name in order to avoid confusion with its Windows Mobile powered Omnia handsets.

The i8910 is Samsung's first S60(INFO) 5th Edition based smartphone, and it features a 3.7-inch AMOLED(INFO) touchscreen display that is fantastically bright and colorful. This WiFi toting device also supports high-speed HSPA(INFO) 3G data connections on the 900, 1900, and 2100MHz UMTS bands, which means that it will be able to roam onto some U.S. based 3G networks operated by AT&T, but not all of them.

Orange is offering the device for 97.50 GBP on an 18 month, 35 GBP/mo contract.
