Nokia unveils 2720 fold, a new and affordable flip phone

Product Launch by Brian James Kirk on Monday May 18, 2009.

Nokia has announced the Nokia 2720 fold, an economical flip phone with a mirrored shell body and a hidden external display.

Designed for emerging rural phone markets, the 2720 fold includes Nokia Life Tools and Ovi Mail, two applications created by Nokia for people without personal computer access. Nokia Life Tools allows users to find timely and relevant information about learning opportunities, and Ovi Mail allows them to quickly setup a mobile email solution.

The 2720 fold features up to 18 days of standby time and 5 hours of talk time so users won't have to worry about always having access to a power source. The device also features an FM radio, an MP3 media player, and Bluetooth connectivity.

The Nokia 2720 fold will cost an estimated 55 EUR (US$74) when it ships in the third quarter of 2009.
