Boost Mobile users experiencing widespread texting delays

Newsbrief by Brian James Kirk on Monday May 04, 2009.

The Associated Press is reporting widespread delays with text messages on the Boost Mobile network. Messages are frequently delayed for hours, according to the story. The problem is being caused by an influx of customers lured to Boost by its $50 unlimited-calling and messaging plan.

"The popularity of Boost Mobile caught us off guard. It overwhelmed our system," Boost spokesman John Votva said. Votva said that the company is fixing the problem and that he expects the system to be "much improved" by next week.
