AT&T to launch BlackBerry Curve 8900 in early summer

AT&T has announced that its branded BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone will be available in early summer. The full-QWERTY equipped smartphone is the lightest and thinnest developed by RIM to date.

The 8900 features quad-band GSM support (850/900/1700/1800Mhz), allowing users to access data in more than 170 countries and make calls in more than 200. The device also features a WiFi chipset for high-speed local data connectivity.

The Curve 8900's rich, high resolution (480 x 360 pixels) display provides smooth video playback and great visibility. Its 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus can save images to microSD cards with support for up to 16GB per card. The device includes an onboard GPS chipset with which support for AT&T Navigator for turn-by-turn directions, traffic alerts, and route planning.

AT&T's RIM BlackBerry Curve 8900 will be available in the early summer. Users who sign up for an unlimited data plan when purchasing the device will receive free WiFi access to more than 20,000 of AT&T's WiFi-enabled locations. Pricing and availability for the device have not yet been announced.
