T-Mobile USA sells 1 million G1 smartphones
News by Brian James Kirk on Friday April 24, 2009.
T-Mobile USA owner Deutsche Telekom said on Monday that the subsidiary sold 1 million G1 Android-powered smartphones since the device was unveiled last October. Based on Deutsche Telekom's announcement, the G1 makes up two-thirds of all 3G devices that T-Mobile sells.
Though the number isn't as significant as Apple's iPhone, 1.6 million of which were activated by AT&T in the first quarter, it is still impressive considering that T-Mobile is still in the process of rolling on its 3G network. The company hopes to cover 200 million people with HSPA by the end of 2009, which would still put it far behind its competitors. [via TelephonyOnline]
