LG announces GC900 Viewty Smart 8 megapixel touchscreen cameraphone

Product Launch by Brian James Kirk on Monday April 20, 2009.

LG has announced the LG GC900 Viewty Smart, a high end cameraphone with an 8 megapixel camera, WVGA touchscreen and LG's 3D user interface.

The Smart's Intelligent Shot mode analyzes picture conditions like subject, background and lighting, and chooses the best pre-programmed scenarios. The advanced shooting mode also provides feedback on how the camera is analyzing the data. The camera has a high ISO setting so users can snap better pictures in the dark. It also includes an LED flash, multi-face detection and high quality video recording.

With a 3-inch WVGA display providing a high-res 800 x 480 pixel display, pictures will look vibrant when shown on the Smart. The device supports high-speed HSDPA 3G data connectivity and WiFi connectivity for local wireless networks. An embedded aGPS chip also helps users find their way and can geo-tag images. The Smart includes 1.5GB of internal memory supplemented with a microSD card slot.

The LG Viewty Smart GC900 will be available in May on the U.K.'s Orange network. Pricing details were not announced.
