Verizon releases device tech specs for 4G LTE network

News by Brian James Kirk on Friday April 17, 2009.

Verizon Wireless has released its initial set of technical specifications for devices that will utilize its fourth generation Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless network.

The specifications are designed to provide guidelines for access and data transport on LTE devices. The announcement marks another milestone on the roadmap to launching the LTE network.

The company said in February that it will offer commercial LTE services in the U.S. in 2010. Field trials are already being conducted in Minneapolis, Columbus and New Jersey.
