National Geographic unveils Duet D888 dual SIM candybar cell phone

Product Launch by Brian James Kirk on Wednesday April 15, 2009.

CNET is reporting that National Geographic has partnered with overseas phone rental service Cellular Abroad to create the Duet D888 candybar cell phone, a dual SIM device that allows users to switch between two SIM cards at a time. Users can migrate between post-paid and pre-paid SIM cards, or between work and personal SIM cards, for example.

Manufactured by Beyond E-Tech, the Duet D888 has tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900MHz) support. Pictures snapped by the D888's 2 megapixel camera will look sharp on its 2.8-inch 65K colors QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) display. Music lovers will appreciate the device's MP3 player, FM radio, and Bluetooth connectivity.

According to the Beyond E-Tech manufacturer website, National Geographic's Duet D888 will retail for $349.00. The device appears to be available for sale there, today.
