Openmoko discontinues development of next FreeRunner Linux handset
News by Brian James Kirk on Monday April 06, 2009.
Openmoko CEO Sean Moss-Pultz has said, at a conference in Switzerland, that his company has discontinued the development of the next iteration of its FreeRunner open-source Linux mobile smartphone.
Having only sold 10,000 units of the current Neo FreeRunner device, and in a bid to remain solvent, the company has already reduced its staff by 50 percent. The company is re-focusing its efforts on a new product, which is not a mobile phone. [via Phone Scoop]
