AT&T to sell subsidized netbooks in Atlanta and Philadelphia
News by Brian James Kirk on Thursday April 02, 2009.
AT&T has announced that it will sell wireless netbook computers in its stores for subsidized fees if customers sign-up for home and wireless broadband plans.
The program will begin in Atlanta and Philadelphia, and subsidized prices will begin at $49 if customers commit to both services. The subsidized price jumps to $99 if customers only sign-up for the wireless broadband plan. AT&T doesn't offer it's home broadband service in the Philadelphia region.
AT&T perviously sold several netbooks, including the Acer Aspire One, Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and Mini 12 and LG Xenia, in RadioShack and other retailers. Aside from netbooks, it will also sell higher-end laptops in its stores, including the Lenovo X200 for $850.
Earlier this week, Bloomberg reported that Verizon Wireless would start selling netbook computers with wireless data connectivity as early as next quarter. [via AP]
