Nokia BetaLabs releases Photo Browser with face detection and magnifying zoom
Newsbrief by Brian James Kirk on Tuesday March 31, 2009.
Nokia BetaLabs has announced the release of its experimental Nokia Photo Browser, which provides users with an intuitive touch UI for Nokia S60 5th edition devices.
The advanced photo browser responds to a device's accelerometer, changing perspective when flipped. Users can flick through their images with a quick swipe of the finger. When pressing and holding an image, a magnifying glass appears that allows for close inspection. The browser also has face detection; while zoomed, if multiple persons are in a photograph, swiping the image causes it to automatically pan to the next face.
Nokia's Photo Browser is available for S60 5th edition, including the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and N97. Support for S60 3rd edition is on the way, according to Nokia. [via Nokia BetaLabs]
