DirecTV and Skype iPhone apps now available

Newsbrief by Brian James Kirk on Tuesday March 31, 2009.

DirecTV has released a free iPhone application that allows Apple iPhone and iPod Touch users to schedule television programs to record on their DirecTV DVR devices. Users can search for programs up to 14 days in advance, browse by channel, time, or date, and instantly get programming information from their mobile devices.

The DirecTV application allows users to record a single episode or an entire series, including pay-per-view offerings, to a DirecTV DVR device at home. The application works over 3G and WiFi, so users will have access to the service from nearly everywhere. A list of compatible DirectTV DVR boxes can be found here.

As MobileBurn previously reported was planned for today, Skype's iPhone application is also now available. Both Skype and the DirectTV application are available for free from the iTunes App Store.
