Palm and Sprint unveil Palm Pre wireless plans
News by Brian James Kirk on Thursday March 12, 2009.
Sprint and Palm today revealed that wireless plans for the Palm Pre will be segmented into nine tiers of individual, family, and business plans. In a webcast, Sprint's Director of Consumer Acquisition David Owens and Palm's Product Line Manager Matt Crowley said that the wireless plans are based on Everything Data, Sprint's unlimited data and messaging plan, and Simply Everything, Sprint's all-inclusive wireless package.
Individual plans will provide either 450 or 900 minutes with an Everything Data plan, or individuals can choose the Simply Everything option. Family plans will provide either 1,500 or 3,000 minutes with the Everything Data plan, or a Simply Everything all-inclusive plan. Businesses will be able to pool minutes, similar to current business options on Sprint's network.
Sprint also confirmed that no other Sprint wireless plans will be available to Pre customers. Crowley said that 3G data is critical to the Palm experience because multitasking while using the unique webOS card system is data intensive. He also said there will be a limit on the number "cards" that can be loaded at one time, based on internal memory usage. There is no update on availability or pricing for the Palm Pre, and according to the companies, things are on track for a Q2 2009 release.

The Sprint plans available for the Palm Pre are a hell of a lot more reasonable thna AT&T's plans for the iPhone.

I swear to God. If I cannot use the Palm Pre on the Sprint Sero Plan. I am leaving Sprint. I have stuck with them far too long for them to pull some dumb stunt like this on me. Infact, if that does happen. I am going to get the G2 phone. Seriously!

Makaveli, #### you and the horse you rode in on pal. I wish to God the SERO Program was eliminated. Don't let the door hit you on your way out over to T Mobile. Alex, The tentative date of launch is mid April which is 2Q9 (April, May June).

Well, if this phone isn't allowed for use on SERO, I won't complain. I'll just continue to use my current phone. I don't see why all the hate for people who jumped aboard the SERO bandwagon that Sprint, themselves created.
Anywho, if they allow it on SERO, I'll glady pony up the full price to get one.
Good day.
