Microsoft shifting media-centric executives to the Windows Mobile team

Newsbrief by Ricky Cadden on Thursday February 05, 2009.

TechFlash's Todd Bishop has received confirmation from Microsoft that the company is moving media-centric executives over to the Mobile Communications Business, which is responsible for the Windows Mobile operating system.

Joe Belfiore, previously an executive on the Zune project team, is now working in the Mobile Communications Business, alongside Charlie Kindel, who formerly served as the General Manager on the Windows Home Server team. The group is led by Terry Myerson, who originally came from Microsoft's Exchange team in 2008.

There has been speculation of a Zune integration with Windows Mobile for quite some time. Though Microsoft has not confirmed any specific plans, Microsoft's CEO, Steve Ballmer, has hinted that the Zune media player will be headed to Windows Mobile devices at some point.
