After letting slip news that the Helio Ocean 2 would be launched with Britney Spear's Circus concert tour, Virgin Mobile USA has released details concerning the new dual-slider smartphone.

Featuring 3G data speeds, the Ocean 2 is a social networking powerhouse with support for Facebook and Myspace alongside text, IM, and e-mail capabilities for service such as Yahoo!, Gmail, AOL, MSN, and Hotmail. Its web browser supports tabbed browsing, and the phone features Google Maps integration with an onboard GPS.

A 2.6-inch QVGA screen will display the Ocean 2's unique operating system with clarity and menus can be browsed with a d-pad that serves as an optical mouse. Multimedia lovers can listen to music and video through a 3.5mm headset jack or stereo Bluetooth. In addition, the slider's 2 megapixel camera can shoot photos or record video. The Helio Ocean 2 will be available for purchase online on Feb. 12 and comes boxed with a 512MB microSD card with support for cards up to 2GB.
