Apple posts record quarterly revenue figures
News by Michael Oryl on Wednesday January 21, 2009.
Today Apple posted the results for it fiscal first quarter 2009, which ended on December 27 of 2008. The company posted a record quarterly revenue figure of US$10.17 billion, up almost 6 percent from the $9.6 billion figure it posted a year earlier. Profits were up from $1.58 billion a year ago to $1.61 billion, which resulted in a diluted earnings per share figure of $1.76.
Apple reported that it sold almost 4.4 million iPhones in the past quarter. That's 88% higher than the figure from Apple's Q1 2008 report, and reflects the continuing global popularity of the company's iPhone 3G smartphone.
