North American 3G Samsung i8510 INNOV8 approved by the FCC

News by Ricky Cadden on Monday December 29, 2008.

Samsung has slipped an unannounced variant of its i8510 INNOV8 sliding smartphone through the FCC, packing dual-band UMTS (850/1900MHz) for North American networks like AT&T's. The Samsung i8510 INNOV8 uses Nokia's S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 interface, and sports an 8 megapixel autofocus camera with a dual-LED flash.

There is no mention of a carrier in the filing, though Samsung has a very strong relationship with AT&T in the United States, and the new 3G frequencies could hint at a possible release on AT&T's high-speed HSDPA network. You can look through the FCC filing here. [via Symbian-Guru.com]
