This year it will be possible to track Santa's progress around the globe direct from your mobile phone. Just search for "norad santa" on your phone's copy of Google Maps for Mobile, and you will be able to keep tabs on the jolly old guy in the red suit no matter where you are.

The system gets its data from NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command that is run jointly by the governments of the USA and Canada. Norad has been tracking the movements of Santa Clause at this time of the year since 1955.

If you do no already have a copy installed on your phone, you can get Google Maps for Mobile direct from Google. Just point your phone's browser to http://www.google.com/gmm.
