Microsoft's first iPhone application, Seadragon, is live
Newsbrief by Ricky Cadden on Tuesday December 16, 2008.
Microsoft has launched Seadragon Mobile, its first iPhone application. Seadragon Mobile uses Microsoft's Seadragon technology to display and manipulate large image files instantly, regardless of available bandwidth or other constraints.
Seadragon works by storing multiple sized versions of a single image file and only sending the pieces that a user needs, on-demand. Microsoft says it chose to release this on the iPhone due to its accelerated GPU (graphics processing unit). [via MacDailyNews]
