Nokia's Vertu and NTT DoCoMo announce Vertu Club MVNO

Luxury cell phone manufacturer Vertu and Japan's NTT DoCoMo have announced the pending launch of a new MVNO(INFO), dubbed Vertu Club. The new MVNO will launch in Q2 2009, using NTT DoCoMo's 3G network. Nokia, the parent company of Vertu, had previously announced that it would be partially backing out of the Japanese market.

No details were given as to the specifics of the MVNO, but a new Vertu flagship store will open in Japan in February 2009, offering consumers the entire Vertu collection. The store will be taking pre-orders for Vertu Club handsets, though impatient consumers will also be able to purchase a SIM-free Vertu phones immediately. [via Vertu]
