BBC iPlayer now available for Omnia, Xperia X1, and C905 Cyber-shot

Newsbrief by Ricky Cadden on Thursday December 11, 2008.

The BBC today announced the launch of new versions of its popular iPlayer application for mobile phones. The new versions work on the Samsung Omnia and Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and C905 Cyber-shot cell phones, while Nokia's N96 is already supported. The BBC iPlayer application functions like a DVR, giving consumers the ability to download video content to their phones for later playback.

The BBC iPlayer application currently only works in the U.K., and also lets consumers stream live content over a cellular or WiFi network. The BBC also stated that it would be adding support for other mobile phone platforms soon. [via Pocket-Lint.co.uk]
