Verizon and RIM roll out BlackBerry Storm firmware update

Newsbrief by Michael Oryl on Friday December 05, 2008.

Verizon Wireless and RIM have released a much needed firmware update for the BlackBerry 9530 Storm. The firmware update, which brings the device to 4.7.0.75, can be found at the Verizon Wireless BlackBerry software update website.

The website does not list any specific issues that are addressed by the update, but the internet is full of people claiming faster automatic screen rotation and other bug fixes. We have installed the update on our own Storms and are still evaluating the effects.

CNET is reporting that an over the air update will start being pushed out to Storm devices starting at 12:30am Saturday morning, though we have no official confirmation of that yet. [via PhoneScoop]
