In January, Kogan Technologies will start shipping the first Australian mobile phone driven by Google's Android operating system. It will likely be the second commercially available device in the world to run the Google Android OS, after T-Mobile's G1. Two models, the Agora, priced at AU$299 (US$200) and the Agora Pro, priced at AU$399 (US$266) will be available and are available for pre-order now. Both models will be free of any carrier locks.

Opting against the G1's long touchscreen and sliding keyboard design, the Agora features a full QWERTY keyboard and 2.5" QVGA (320x240 pixel) touchscreen. Still implemented are microSD support and 3G connectivity that is compatible with both AT&T's network as well as those used in Europe and Australia. The Agora Pro is expanded with a 2MP camera, WiFi, and GPS. Look for both to start shipping on January 29. [via androidauthority]
