T-Mobile G1 jailbroken, captured, and rejailed

Newsbrief by Ricky Cadden on Friday November 07, 2008.

The T-Mobile G1 smartphone, which runs Google's Android operating system, was recently jailbroken, allowing root access and unofficial applications to be installed. The hack is rather simple, if you're technically-minded.

However, don't get too excited, as a firmware update named RC30 is already being pushed out as an OTA(INFO) update. This update removes the back-door exploit that allowed users to gain root access. [via Android Authority]
