T-Mobile launches RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220

Newsbrief by Ricky Cadden on Monday October 13, 2008.

T-Mobile is the first to launch the new BlackBerry Pearl 8220, the first clamshell smartphone from RIM. Using the BlackBerry operating system, the Pearl 8220 offers a 20-key SureType keyboard for easy text entry and a 'pearl' trackball for navigation.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8220 includes several consumer-friendly features, such as a 2 megapixel camera and a microSD card slot for extra storage. A 3.5mm audio port allows you to easily jam out to music, as well. The BlackBerry Pearl 8220 also features WiFi, with support for T-Mobile's UMA(INFO) based HotSpot@Home service, for unlimited calling from your home and office WiFi networks.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8220 is available online and in stores today in black, priced at $149.99 after a two-year commitment and $50 mail-in rebate. A dark red version is set to be available on October 20th for the same price.
