T-Mobile's first Android phone coming on September 23rd?

Newsbrief by Michael Oryl on Friday September 12, 2008.

It appears that we might yet see the first Google Android powered smartphone this month. In an interview conducted by Reuters with Andy Rubin, director of mobile platforms for Google, Rubin said that Google can't afford for the first Android device to be a dud, going on to add that "We're in the final stages and having lots of sleepless nights."

Reuters, for its part, seems convinced that T-Mobile's first Android powered smartphone, a version of the HTC Dream thought to be called the G1, will launch on the 23rd of this month. The G1 name has popped up in a number of locations lately, such as in UPC code databases, and now appears to be coming in 3 different colors. [via AndroidAuthority]
