Today Sprint and LG unveiled a slick new QWERTY messaging cell phone, the LG LX600 Lotus. The Lotus has a unique square shape that looks similar to that of a ladies makeup compact, and, in fact, the Lotus is available in an etched purple design that seems squarely targeted at the ladies, even if the satin black version has a more typically down to business appearance.
The Lotus is one of the initial Sprint devices to make use of its new One Click home screen, which provides quite access to messaging, navigation, and even Sprint TV and the Sprint Music Store In addition to that lovely QWERTY keyboard, which should make the Lotus a fave for frequent email and text message authors, the Lotus also comes equipped with Bluetooth 2.0 support and a 2 megapixel digital camera with video recording ability.
The LG Lotus will be available in October for US$149.99 with a two year contract.

My daughter wants the purple version of this phone
cjskoloda @ 2:47:08AM EST on Friday February 27, 2009
ahh what to say about the LG Lotus it is a terrible phone ive actually been fighting with sprint for the past 4 days to get a totally different phone the phone although may look nice and slim and look like a texters best friend haha dont let its sleek design fool you the phone in most models ive see or have come in contact with shut themselves off and will not turn back on they powercycle whenever data is presently being used recieving pictures hahahaha thats a good one the phone makes a faint humming noise when charging the internet interface on the phone is way out of date for a "basic phone" with high end capabilities sprint needs to pull this phone from the market if anyone even thinks of getting this phone dont waiste your time or money its the biggest piece of junk LG has ever produced and u wont get the support from LG mobile either soo you will basically be a sitting duck for 22 months unless you buy a brand new phone at full retail so think again before u put your hands on this lil pain it will be the biggest mistake ever i hope this helps someone

I don't know what cjskoloda is talking about, this phone is wonderful! I've owned several Blackberrys and the iPhone, and this phone is so much easier to use for texting and emailing, and the Sprint TV is great quality for such a small screen. I have not had any technical issues with my phone, the battery life last several days without a recharge, and it looks great! I get compliments all the time on it. The speed of the data transfer is quicker than any of other web access phones I have used, too. As long as your phone plan includes unlimited web access and texting, this phone is all you need on the go, on vacation, or traveling. Sprint TV even has a Disney Channel for my daughter to watch on long car rides. I love this phone, and I recommend it to anyone who wants a great phone that texts, emails, and can browse the web easily.

well like cjskoloda said this phone basically is a piece of junk, it does shut off constantly for no reason at all i have had this phone for 2 weeks and i hate it, the internet sucks and doesnt load, and the music player well thats a joke once you have over 50 songs it takes 15 to 20 minutes just to load it, the battery dies very fast cause its considered a "smartphone" and if you have internet it makes it die faster cause you cant turn the internet off, and also it is very slow when texting it takes for ever to type what you want and if you get a message while your typing another one then you send the message to the person who just messaged you it is the worst phone ever, i switched to it from the rumor, it was the biggest mistake ever.
Michael Oryl @ 1:08:10PM EDT on Saturday March 14, 2009
No, it's not considered a smartphone at all.
mj @ 6:54:31PM EDT on Saturday March 21, 2009
Outstanding phone, not 1 issue! very user friendly! Over 900 songs on it works like a champ! Outstanding internet features. Never has shut down!I run the music in the back ground and text, talk, with no issues.A great phone that texts, emails, and can browse the web easily all at once3...... Thanks LG

The LG Lotus is a decent phone. The only downside I've come across is when you have to call a business that has a word in the number, i.e. 1-800-COMCAST. Since the keyboard is QWERTY, you have no idea what the number is until you look up an image of a traditional keypad. The only problem I had with it was it kept freezing then trying to turn itself back on. It would come on for 8 seconds, then the LG Lotus screen of death would come up and after a minute it would try to turn itself back on only to turn off after 8 seconds again. I got frustrated and threw it across the room. It's worked fine since. Other than that, it works great! Great for texting and the usual phone features work just fine. It has an AWESOME GPS navigation feature. Just like the GPS Nav. you can get for your car. Nice lady voice tells you when to turn and everything.
Sarahhh @ 8:16:56PM EDT on Thursday April 9, 2009
This phone sucks. I've had it for three months and had to get two diffrent ones, the first one would shut its self on and off every min. or so. The second, the main screen faded.. I've never droped the phone. Don't waste your money.
Tee @ 10:57:19AM EDT on Tuesday April 14, 2009
I agree with the positive feed back on the lotus. I switched from a rumor to the lotus. The rumor does not have the capabilties to handle playing videos and televison as the lotus does. I have not had technical issues with the phone not functioning properly. In my opinion so far it is a great phone.
Hayley @ 6:47:03PM EDT on Saturday April 18, 2009
mine powers up and stays on the screnn that says lotus and then it gets really hot and turns off. HELP! It does the thing where it turns off then on again too. It sucks somtimes. like, sucks alot.
gotmoxie @ 11:42:44AM EDT on Sunday April 19, 2009
I have had the phone for a little over 2 weeks. I think it takes too long to power up but maybe that's just me. It's much easier to text on this one than my Sanyo SCP3900. I like the slim design and the Mp3 feature. It doesn't seem to hold its complete charge too long. I dont' use my phone all that much and haven't downloaded any music yet. I don't hardly ever use the web. I have to charge it every day. Not a huge deal but it can be inconvenient if I forget! All in all it's just OK. Maybe when I start using it to download music I will like it better. I wouldn't get this phone again. My fault for not doing enough research.

so i have had this phone for about 2 weeks and havent dropped or gotten any water on it at all, i have been taking care of it like its glass, and this phone honestly sucks! the other day when i flipped it open it went to a black screen, and even taking the battery out hasnt helped, also when the screen isnt black, it is doing other strange things like lines and changing colors, its very frustrating. it also doesnt hold a charge for very long and i dont have internet on mine, or music even. also when texting it takes awhile because the phone is slow. my advice to you phone consumers out there is not to buy this phone, you can surely find something else thats not a waste of money and time.
DT @ 10:17:02AM EDT on Monday April 27, 2009
you can dial 1800comcast all you have to do is push shift and it will change to letters duh!!!

I can appreciate that all you folks that have had a good experiences with the lotus are singing it's praises. But you've got to admit that if you had experienced the quirky problems with your brand new phones as these other people have, you probably wouldn't think very highly of it either. I have had my lotus for a month and the display is doing the same strange things that others have explained. It's very frustrating. The LG company is suppose to be fixing it right now since it is under warranty, but I don't think I'll ever trust the phone again. Real shame too!! I loved the phone.....until it proved to be unreliable. Hopefully they will soon get all of the quirks out and it will truly be worth the money you spend for it.

I'm about to buy a Lotus, some adore it but others say its a pain and a waist.
My freind has one and has not had any problems from what i know, but its really discoraging to read these comments.
LGhatr101 @ 6:16:14PM EDT on Thursday June 11, 2009
My wife has had two different LG Lotus phones and both had the same exact problem. After about two weeks, she would open the phone and the screen would be black or discolored. Also, the buttons wouldn't work when the screen did come on. After the first time sprint told us they had never heard of this problem before, now we are on phone #2 and are having the exact same issues. WOW! I cant believe it. I wouldnt recommend getting this phone. Maybe this is why the Sprint price dropped so much in two months. ??? Maybe???
macgeek61 @ 7:58:32PM EDT on Tuesday June 23, 2009
We have just returned both phones for replacement, My BF had one and I had one. Both the Displays went on them. They were less than two months old! First I would get garbled mess and wavy lines, weird colors. Then I would lose the display all together, and it would go black. His did the SAME EXACT thing but he had the fun of having the display upside down. Finally they just wouldn't display nothing and we took them back. Sprint replaced them, but will this next set give us the same headaches? Great looking phone, but is it worth the headache?
lghtr @ 9:06:43AM EDT on Thursday July 30, 2009
i agee with the last post. I bought my phone 2 months ago, and first my outer LCD went completely blank and now the inner screen is all scribbly and wavy and goes blank. this phone sucks, i think my $30 dollar phone was better than this.
Ellie @ 1:21:04PM EDT on Friday October 9, 2009
You have to keep in mind that most people who are happy with their phone aren't gonna look around for places to rant and rave about how wonderful it is. The people who have bad experiences are usually the ones eager to share their story because 1) They're pissed off and need to vent, and 2) They want to warn others. So yes, while there are some definite problems with the Lotus, it's not like everyone who buys one is going to experience them.
I've had issues with my Lotus turning itself off, but it's not very common for me. I still think it's a great phone and don't regret buying it at all.
Screamingstares @ 4:59:35PM EDT on Sunday October 11, 2009
I have an LX600 LG LOTUS I have completely updated the firmware. This is my third Lotus in 6 months. The first two my phone's microphone stopped working. This is my third lotus and I've had it for about a week. It says that the battery is 2/3 full and then I turn it on and it won't charge and then dies. I've tried taking out the battery for 15 min then putting it back in (while unplugged). IT STILL DOES NOT WORK! I have to go to Sprint again tomorrow. It does the random turn off then back on thing too. The internet takes forever to load and so does looking at texts and pictures. I'm really getting frustrated and I'm really hating my phone!
