Samsung SGH-a837 passes FCC, headed to AT&T

News by Ricky Cadden on Monday September 08, 2008.

Samsung's SGH-a837 has been given a green light by the FCC, and it appears to be aimed towards AT&T's 3G network. This clamshell cellphone offers dual-band GSM (850/1900MHz) support in addition to dual-band 3G UMTS (850/1900MHz) support for speedy data transfers.

The Samsung SGH-a837 looks to be ruggedized, with a very industrial design and locking battery compartment. However, the draft of the user manual included in the FCC filing makes it clear that the phone is not waterproof, dustproof, or even resistant to water or dust.

This cell phone also offers a 1.3 megapixel camera with accompanying microSD card slot, as well as support for AT&T's Music services. Neither Samsung nor AT&T have officially announced the SGH-a837, but you can check out the FCC documents here. [via: PhoneScoop]
