Sony Ericsson unveils SDK for the Xperia X1 panels UI
Newsbrief by Michael Oryl on Wednesday September 03, 2008.
Today Sony Ericsson made available a software developers kit (SDK) for the panels interface found on its upcoming Windows Mobile smartphone, the Xperia X1. The SDK is being provided free of charge, as Sony Ericsson is hoping that developers will come up with new panel applet ideas that will help spur the sales of its upcoming smartphone.
Boasting a 3" WVGA (800x480 pixel) touchscreen display, the Xperia X1 offers developers a large canvas to work with when it comes to bringing their ideas to market. While rumors floating about recently have hinted that the X1 might be delayed until early 2009, Sony Ericsson recently reiterated that its first Windows Mobile product would ship by the end of the year.
A demo video of some of the features of the X1's panels user interface can be seen here, while the SDK itself can be downloaded here.
