T-Mobile announces Q2 numbers, adds 668k subscribers
News by Michael Oryl on Thursday August 07, 2008.
Today T-Mobile USA, which is owned by Deutsche Telekom, announced its second quarter financial and subscriber numbers. T-Mobile currently stands at 31.5 million subscribers, a net addition of 668k subscribers for the quarter. Its churn rate for contract customers sits at a relatively high 1.9%, up from 1.7% in the prior quarter.
Apart from the churn rate up tick, which the company blames on the 2 year anniversary of when it added 2 year contracts, the numbers look decent. The company posted income of US$452 million, up from $350 million for the same quarter in 2007. Service revenue figures are up over 10 percent year over year to $4.85 billion, and the company says that its revenue from data services is up an impressive 31.5 percent. T-Mobile also said that it has added a million MyFaves users since the prior quarter, with the current total reaching 6.5 million.
The company reiterated its plan to light up over 20 more 3G markets before the end of the year.
