T-Mobile announcing contract-free month-to-month plans?

Newsbrief by Ricky Cadden on Wednesday July 30, 2008.

According to a rumor posted at TmoNews.com, T-Mobile appears to be preparing new month-to-month post-paid rate plans, set to launch on August 6th. The new plans would be similar to the contract-based packages currently offered, but would not require customers to sign a contract. The new month-to-month plans have not been announced in any official capacity by T-Mobile, but TmoNews.com has a history of being on the mark with this its information.

These new plans would allow customers who buy their cell phone to enjoy the benefits and minute packages of a post-paid plan without having to sign a contract or purchase an unneeded subsidized T-Mobile cell phone. If they do wish to purchase a phone from T-Mobile, the full retail price would have to be paid. Additionally, month-to-month customers would still be required to pass a credit check.
