Tag Heuer's luxury Meridiist handset passes through the FCC

News by Ricky Cadden on Friday July 25, 2008.

Tag Heuer, typically known for luxury wristwatches, has had its first cell phone, the Meridiist, approved by the FCC. The luxury cell phone is built with a metal and leather casing and offers a sapphire crystal display.

The Tag Heuer Meridiist is a candybar cell phone with two displays. The main display is a 1.9" QVGA screen, with a sapphire covering for ultimate durability. There is a secondary OLED display along the top of the handset that offers a bird's-eye view of various status indicators.

A 2 megapixel camera is hidden on the back of the phone, protected by a sliding lens cover. Bluetooth connectivity is on board, for convenient wireless connections, as well.

The FCC filings are available here.
