To show off its research in eco-friendly mobile phones, Samsung has recently unveiled the SCH-W510 and SGH-F268 slider handsets, both designed and manufactured with the environment in mind.
The CDMA SCH-W510's rear battery door is constructed of bioplastic material, using cornstarch to be more environmentally friendly. The metal finishing process used on the rest of the handset is also eco-friendly, and the entire device features an antibacterial covering, to protect consumers from carrying diseases on their phone.
The Samsung SGH-F268 is a GSM slider that was constructed completely without harmful brominated flame retardants (BFR) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) that is typically used in mobile phones. Other manufacturers have been working to significantly reduce the use of these materials, as well.
The Samsung SCH-W510 and SGH-F268 are both planned to be available in China later this month. [via:DigitalBurn.com].
