ASOCS has introduced its new MP100 MultiComms processor, a single chip that is capable of supporting GSM, WiFi, Mobile TV, and GPS. By combining multiple interfaces on a single chip, the MP100 can reduce manufacturing costs by up to 50%, and could reduce power consumption by up to 70%.

The ASOCS MP100 is also software reconfigurable, which means that it can be updated to support future technologies such as LTE or WiMax via a simple software update. ASOCS partnered with Fujitsu to develop and manufacture the chip, using Fujitsu's SiExpress service to quickly manufacture the first batch of evaluation units for customers.
