Verizon Joins the LiMo Foundation as a Core Member

Verizon Wireless today announced that it will be occupying the final seat on the LiMo Foundation's board of directors as a Core Member. The LiMo Foundation was created to encourage the use and promotion of Linux in the mobile industry as a way to preserve openness and reduce costs.
The LiMo Foundation's board of directors includes operators from North America, Asia, and Europe and seeks to continue innovation and development of mobile Linux. The Foundation is open for handset manufacturers, chip set manufacturers, and independent software developers to help shape the next generation of the mobile industry with a consistent software platform.
Current members of the LiMo Foundation include Motorola, Vodafone, and Texas Instruments. AMD, Mozilla, Trolltech, and Broadcom have also joined as Associate Members.
