The LG KG810 was the folder-style answer for users that love the look and feel of LG's Chocolate range of handsets, but don't like slider phones. LG has taken the wraps of an updated version of the KG810, known as the U830, at ITU Telecom World in Hong Kong this week.
The sleek folder handset now comes with a QVGA screen, a revamped user interface, and support for HSDPA high-speed data. It is a pity that there is still no external memory card slot, but on the up side LG has kept U830's thickness at 14.8mm, which is excellent for a 3.5G folder. Notice that the external screen has been enlarged to 128x160 pixels, which is a smart move back to the good old days with handsets like the LG U8380. The external display measures 1.3" diagonally and together with the red touch-sensitive music buttons on the outside of the flip, the U830 looks great in dark.
A 2.0 megapixel camera is on board to capture life going by, and viewing your photos is a pleasure thanks to the 2.2" QVGA TFT internal display. LG has included 185MB of on board memory, but this only goes a short way to alleviating the need for a memory card slot. The device is already being sold through network operator 3 in Italy, Hong Kong, and the UK, but so far no other markets have been announced.
