Motorola Launches RAZR Z Slider
News by Michael Oryl on Wednesday February 08, 2006.
Motorola RAZR Z for Korea
According to a story posted on The Korea Times website, Motorola has launched a new slider version of the RAZR line of handsets called the RAZR Z. This new device, which will only be available from Korea's SK Telecom for the time being, is 14.8mm thick - nearly the same as the RAZR V3. Like the RAZR V3, it makes use of a 2.2" 262k color display. It also includes a megapixel camera and a MP3 player.
Truth be told, the RAZR Z appears far more like a SLVR L7 than a RAZR V3, and it is possible that the RAZR moniker name was used simply because it is far better known in Korea. In any event, the device is quite thin and will be selling in Korea for something in the range of US$500 to US$625.
Motorola has made no announcements about a US version of the RAZR Z, but if our experience with the RAZR V3c tells us anything, it is certainly possible for Motorola to add the needed E911 components to the RAZR Z that would make it legal for sale in the US. The company has also made no comment about a GSM version of the device yet. [via Engadget]
