Motorola and Oakley announce Bluetooth enabled sunglasses for release in August
News by Brad Kellett on Monday July 25, 2005.
Oakley RAZRWIRE
Motorola and Oakley today announced an innovative new product aimed at mobile phone users on the go. The RAZRWIRE Bluetooth enabled sunglasses give the wearer a comfortable way to continue using their handset while taking part in sporting events or other activities outdoors.
The sunglasses include a Motorola Bluetooth module, supporting Bluetooth 1.1 and 1.2, and offering a range or 30 feet (10 meters). The module has volume buttons and an answer button on its lower edge, and charges through an included wall charger or a USB port. Motorola rate the module for five hours talk time and 100 hours standby time.
The sunglasses themselves have a frame made of Oakley's O-Luminum, an alloy that Oakley claims is 40% lighter than pure titanium. The lenses feature Oakley's XYZ Optics, and filter out 100% of UV rays.
The RAZRWIRE Bluetooth sunglasses will be available in early August in Cingular Wireless stores, and online at Oakley, Motorola, and Cingular's websites for $294.99.
