Google has released a new version of its popular Google Earth application, with new optimizations for Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets. Google Earth allows users to explore the globe in a new way, with facts and details presented at a glance.
Google Earth for Honeycomb adds new features that take advantage of the higher processing power available to tablets. A new 3D building view with full textures and high-levels of detail is available. There is also a new Honeycomb-optimized action bar on tap that makes for easy searches. Layer functionality has been added too, similar to the implementation in Google Maps.
The new version of Google Earth is available for free in the Android Market now. Users with Android 2.1 Eclair or higher on their smartphones can use the phone version of Earth, while tablets with Android 3.0 Honeycomb can download the tablet-optimized one. [Google via ReadWriteWeb]
