New Toshiba battery charges in less than 60 seconds
Newsbrief by Michael Oryl on Tuesday March 29, 2005.
According to a story in The Register and other sources, Toshiba has introduced a new Lithium-Ion battery that can be charged to 80% capacity in under 60 seconds. The remaining 20% take "a few more minutes" to achieve. The new batteries also should be good for 1000 complete life cycles. While we won't see it in small consumer devices like phones for a while, it will be available in cars and other industrial type applications next year.
