Verizon Wireless has confirmed that Android 2.2 will land on the Motorola DROID. However, a Verizon Wireless spokesperson told Phone Scoop that the update will not include support for the native Android 2.2 WiFi hotspot feature, or support for tethering the device for use as a modem. "The Droid by Motorola doesn't have [the] hardware to support a Mobile Hotspot. With tethering there is no Connection on the PC side that will allow you to tether the device so the answer is that option isn't part of this update," Verizon Wireless spokesperson Brenda Raney told Phone Scoop. Android 2.2 is expected to roll out to the DROID beginning this week.source: Phone Scoop
