Last week Verizon Wireless announced that the HTC DROID Incredible would be available on the 29th to new customers, and pre-orders begin today. I had a chance to play with the device all weekend and am ready to give a few impressions before completing my full review.

The HTC DROID Incredible is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and I found the device to be very quick when opening apps or flipping through the HTC Sense homescreen. Its AMOLED(INFO) 800 x 480 display is stunning, and a few friends commented on its brightness and clarity during dinner.

I also enjoyed the phone's 8 megapixel camera. It took good shots both indoors in low-light situations, thanks to its dual-LED flash, as well as outdoors in the sunlight.

For texting, HTC's landscape and vertical QWERTY keyboards were very easy to use, but I also loved being able to use speak-to-text, a feature available in Android 2.1 smartphones. While it wasn't able to correctly identify what I was saying in a loud environment with background noise, it did work very well in quieter places. I've also placed a few phone calls so far, and the device has offered clear call quality without any drops.

My biggest gripe so far has been the battery life. I found myself having to recharge the device in the late afternoon, even with the display set to automatic brightness and GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth off. I have been using the DROID Incredible almost non-stop, though, and hope that the battery life improves during the work-week when I won't be on the phone as much.

I'll be bringing you my full review shortly, but for now enjoy the images and video of the HTC DROID Incredible, which you can preorder today for $199 with a 2-year Verizon Wireless contract.
