Motorola Evoke QA4 touchscreen phone: hands-on video and pics

Gallery by Brian James Kirk on Tuesday April 07, 2009.

Our correspondent Brad Kellett spent some time with the Motorola Evoke QA4 at the 2009 CTIA Wireless show last week. Motorola's new device features a slide-out 9-key keypad, multiple home screens, and social media integration with its web browser and 2 megapixel camera and camcorder.

Kellett said that the Evoke felt solid in his hand and he was impressed that users are able to switch between the on-screen QWERTY keyboard and T9 keypad for inputting text.

Switching between home screens is snappy, he said, and each screen is customizable. He noted that integration of the various home screens was minimal, as users won't be able to watch YouTube video in the web browser or sync MySpace contacts with the device.

The 2.8-inch touchscreen is bright, and the user interface is finger friendly and less confusing than past Motorola UIs, Kellett said. The Motorola Evoke QA4 will be available in the second quarter, though no carriers have yet announced support for the device.
