After HTC and Vodafone announced the HTC Magic today, we got a hands-on preview of the new Android-powered touchscreen smartphone. The sleek, curved device features a 3.2-inch HVGA (320x480 pixels) TFT capacitive touchscreen, video recording with its 3.2 megapixel camera, and trackball navigation. The Magic also features all of the amenities included with the Android operating system, such as GMail, Google Maps, YouTube, and Android Market access.
As you can tell from the pictures and video, the HTC Magic features Google's updated Android operating system, codenamed "Cupcake," that has a soft-QWERTY keyboard for on-screen typing. In order to get these photos and video to you as soon as possible, hands-on written commentary from MobileBurn Editor Michael Oryl will be added later today. The HTC Magic has quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) support and dual-band UMTS (900/2100MHz) support with HSDPA data for high-speed downloads. WiFi is also onboard for fast, local downloading. The Magic will be available in April exclusively on Vodafone in the UK, Spain, Germany and France, and Italy for a price between 99 and 199 EUR.

Very poor ergonomics for the video, and no upgrade on the camera. I think I'll wait!
