Today at the Palm press event at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Palm introduced its new Pre. The Pre is the company's first device to run the webOS, the equally new smartphone operating system that Palm also unveiled. We recorded a video of a live demo of the Pre so that you can see first hand how the new phone and smartphone operating system work.
The new webOS is, quite simply, amazing looking. The look and feel of the OS is very smooth and polished. It would look totally at home on the next generation of Apple's iPhone - it really is that beautiful. But Pre and its webOS are no iPhone clone, webOS has its own way of doing things, and that way seems to be quite intuitive and generally obvious.
So check out the video below as well as the video on the following page - there's about 20 minutes of footage in total. We've also got a number of additional live photos of the Pre that will give you an idea of what the device looks like up close and personal.
Palm may just have saved itself with this salvo. It appears to be a worthy new entry into the smartphone market.
