The Sony Ericsson K770i is a new edition to Sony Ericsson's family of Cybershot camera phones. As opposed to the K810i and K850i, the K770i has a more conservative design that should be welcomed by a lot of people. It also seems that the company has rectified a lot of flaws found in some of the more recent designs. There is no more joystick pain thanks to a new d-pad that works really well. The number keys are huge, yet still not as crowded as those of the K800i.
The backlighted shutter key from K750i is back on the K770i. The company also added another twist to the design by placing two long lights at the back of the phone. They blink in yellow at the instant you slide open the camera lens cover- a smart move for branding, because no other camera phones out there do that. With the great keypad, full lens cover, UMTS support, and a 930mAh battery, it is impressive that the thickness of the phone is kept down to 14.5mm. The curved corners of the phone, along with its 95g weight, make it feel really sleek in the hand.
The menu on the K770 is retained from the K800i days, meaning that the dual-softkey system is still used. The file manager is also one generation older than that found on the K850i, and videos can only be recorded at 176x144 pixel resolution.
All in all the K770i appears to be as an solid update of the K610i. It is also an escape for those who are not fond of Sony Ericsson's more unusual looking designs of late.Sony Ericsson K770 |
