CeBIT: Siemens SX1
Gallery by Michael Oryl on Friday March 14, 2003.
For the first time we were able to get our hands on the new Siemens SX1, based on the Nokia Series 60 platform. As you can see, the interface appears to be nearly identical to that of the 7650 and 3650 models from Nokia. The big thing with this new handset, though, is the keypad. As just about anybody could have guessed, it is virtually impossible to use the keypad with a single hand. You really ned to have very large hands, or use both hands.
But otherwise it is a pretty neat device. Clever use of voice dialing and speed dial buttons could minimize this for general use, but text messaging is always going to be a problem.
More images are on the following pages.

While not too large, you can see that the left side keypad is still quite a reach for your thumb
